The Case for Law
Why the profession, in my own words.
Growing up in a third world country, I directly witnessed that justice and equality is not assured for the majority. Realising that a person's gender or social status dictates whose voice should be heard inspired me to pursue law, and to learn how justice can be a tool for empowerment and protection.
My enthusiasm sparked properly at a local court hearing, watching a case involving a young woman stalked by an armed man, recorded on CCTV. I was struck by the precision of the lawyers' questions — law, I realised, is not only persuasion, but carefully piecing together evidence and paying close attention to detail.
Law appeals to me because it is both intellectually challenging and societally vital. I want to study it at university not only to develop skills and understand legal principles, but to contribute to justice — and I'm eager to keep learning about it beyond academic knowledge.

International Exposure - South Korea
Stepping outside a familiar system to see how others approach work, study, and each other.
Spent 10 days in South Korea as part of an international exchange programme, living with a Korean student and experiencing daily student life firsthand. The programme gave me first-hand exposure to a different work ethic and to people from a different country and culture.
It developed my cultural awareness, adaptability, and ability to communicate with people from different backgrounds. It also broadened my understanding of how social values, education systems, and perspectives can differ across cultures — an experience that strengthened my appreciation for working with diverse communities.
